Will India improve its nation brand by heading to the moon?

haah a good example in Hypocrisy!!! Well developing nations need to develop holistically. A nation need not focus only on concerns eradication...den eradicate the concerns...and then further focus on new developments. Nah! No more this is the mantra. Its a fast globalising world. Infact lets see an example the global meltdown also had an adverse effect on Indian financial markets. Its fast! and moreover its reactive. Well and no national sentiments as far as this comment is concerned, would have posted this inspite of it being any developing nation. The point holds good only if the nation is stated as a poor nation. India arrived at the start of the new mellienium itself and will go way ahead. This was just another feather in the cap :)

Well definately this moon mission will enhance india as a brand in global market....every country has some internal issues weather it may be social or political but it doesnt means that we should stop looking forward...we are not datched from other economies and we should not be!when slowdown in US ecomony impacts our markets then our actions should also speak to the world.....Today indian brands are not given their due respect and that doesnt means we have to copy what any other devoloped countries do. we have to create our own path to sucess!!!! better to say survival in this global market ....these missions may not address the current problem what india is facing but they will definately improve india's future.

No, I dont think so. But perhaps it is not an attempt to put India on the map.

What India had done is the right thing.

Comparing the Budgets of US ($16 Billion) and India’s shoestring ($700 Million) for these fields and the achievements what I would suggest is India should have done this before instead of deviating an ambitious space programme into Missiles.
Missiles are always Non Starters and never used in practical and costlier than sorties

It is a great step, especially if the launch is sufficiently publicised to work on the nation brand. India has a long standing image as that of an ancient culture, snake charmers and Taj Mahal. We also need to send in images of modern technology and cutting edge innovation. Efforts like a space probe and manned missions can help the nation carve a new image. It all depends on how these are being managed in the overall nation branding strategy, so far for the Chandrayaan it had little impact on the branding exercise.
